The CVHGPS vision and agenda is to maintain a safe and fun free flight environment in the Columbia Valley.

Our main flying sites are

  • Mt. Swansea
  • Panorama Mountain Resort – ski launches in the winter
  • Canal Flats – in progress

Flying at all our flying sites you need the following:

  • Current CVHGPS membership – $25/year
  • HPAC membership
  • Minimum of a P2/H2 rating

The CVHGPS vision and agenda is the following:

  • Established and maintain our relationship with the District Recreation Officer – Rocky Mountain North of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource and Operations and Rural Development.
  • Working and maintaining a good relationship with private property owners in regards of landing sites.
  • Liaison with the local municipalities, chamber office, Fire-department, Search & Rescue, Ambulance and local RCMP.
  • Airports
    Recognizing and educating/informing CVHGPS pilots of the Invermere and Fairmont Hot Springs Airport traffic and rules.

    • Only P3/H3 pilots to land at airports
      • Use a aircraft radio (local frequ. 123.20) to monitor and advice air-traffic
    • P2/H2 pilots us the landing site at Mt. Swansea
  • Maintaining the Mt. Swansea summit weather station.
  • Host and organizer of the Lakeside Event – annual Hang Gliding and Paragliding event since 1976.
